The mission of Kids First Health Care is to improve the health and well-being of infants, children and youth through providing primary and preventative health services in partnership with schools and other community organizations.

Kids First is a non-profit organization created specifically to meet the health care needs of children ages birth to 21 throughout Adams County. Current services include:

• Primary health care

• Immunization clinics

• Preventive dental health services

• Health education on topics like nutrition, obesity, and reproductive health

• Behavioral health screening and referrals

• Enrollment assistance into Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+)

• School nursing services in two Adams County school districts

Since 1978, Kids First has provided more than 185,000 health care visits for about 71,000 children. In 2018, Kids First saw the following results across all sites:

• 10,244 health care visits were provided to 3,965 infants, children and youth.

• 2,221 children and adolescents received immunizations

• 3,154 behavioral health counseling visits were provided to children and teens

• 546 families were assisted in applying for Medicaid, CHP+, and the Kids First sliding fee scale, resulting in 1,038 children having increased access to health care.
